Is this really free?
Yes. There is no charge for the call or for the help with your request, whether or not you were hurt. C&B Law Group LLP offers it because many people who need their report were also injured and want to know their options. There is no obligation.
Do you get the report for me?
No. California law (Vehicle Code section 20012) releases collision reports only to people with a proper interest: the drivers involved, the vehicle owners, anyone injured, and their attorneys and insurers. You submit the request. We tell you where it goes and what to include. If you hire the firm for an injury claim, your attorney can request it as your representative.
What if I don't know which agency responded?
Tell us where the crash happened and we'll work it out with you. The officer's business card, a tow receipt or the report number usually shows it.
How long does it take to get a report?
It depends on the agency and how busy it is. Reports are not released the same day; the agency reviews and approves them first. On the call we'll tell you what to expect from your agency.
What if I was hurt?
Say so on the form. A licensed California attorney reviews what happened and tells you where you stand, free. No fee and no costs unless we win your case.
What happens after I send the form?
An intake specialist calls you. During business hours that is usually within minutes. If you were hurt, the same call covers your case review.
I already have a lawyer. Can I still use this?
Yes. We'll still point you to the right agency, and your lawyer can request the report for you as your representative.
